Pennfield Township, MI – A 34-year-old woman from Pennfield Township was critically injured in a shooting Tuesday evening, prompting a multi-agency investigation in Calhoun County.
According to the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 6:20 p.m. to a report of a shooting in the 11000 block of Gorsline Road. When officers arrived, they discovered the woman outside a residence suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. She was transported to a nearby hospital and remains in critical condition.
Authorities stated that all individuals present at the scene were interviewed by investigators. The Calhoun County Special Response Team initially secured the area. Once deemed safe, the Calhoun Area Multi-Jurisdictional Evidence Team (CAMJET), which includes representatives from the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi Tribal Police, and the Marshall Police Department, was activated to process the scene and collect evidence.
The investigation remains ongoing and is being led by the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau.
Multiple agencies assisted at the scene, including the Michigan State Police, Battle Creek Police Department, Marshall Police Department, Tribal Police, Pennfield Fire Department, and LifeCare Ambulance.
