Cassopolis, MI – Law enforcement agencies are actively searching for an armed and dangerous suspect who allegedly stole a police vehicle during an arrest Tuesday afternoon in southwest Michigan.
According to the Cassopolis Police Department, the suspect fled the scene around 1 p.m. in a marked 2020 Ford Explorer bearing official department insignia. The incident occurred during the course of an arrest, when the individual reportedly overpowered officers and escaped in the vehicle.
The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 43 years old, standing 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighing about 200 pounds. He has blonde hair and blue eyes. Authorities have classified the suspect as armed and dangerous.
Law enforcement agencies throughout the region have been notified and are assisting in locating the suspect and recovering the stolen vehicle. The case remains under active investigation.
Officials are urging the public not to approach the suspect or vehicle if seen, and to immediately call 911 with any tips or sightings.
Police stressed that public safety is the top concern and assured residents that updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
Residents in and around Cassopolis are asked to stay alert, report suspicious activity, and allow law enforcement to manage the situation with appropriate caution.
