Leroy Township, MI – A 33-year-old Michigan man is in custody after a chaotic pursuit involving threats of explosives, a domestic assault, and an attempted vehicular assault on deputies ended with his vehicle stuck in a field Christmas evening.
Calhoun County deputies responded to a domestic disturbance around 7 p.m. in the 10000 block of Running Deer Ridge, where the suspect allegedly assaulted a family member and threatened to use firearms and explosives. The man fled before deputies arrived but later returned, attempting to hit officers with his vehicle, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
A pursuit ensued across multiple jurisdictions, with the suspect reportedly trying to ram police vehicles during the chase. The pursuit ended near 11 Mile Road and F Drive N in Emmett Township when the suspect’s vehicle veered off-road and became immobilized in a field.
The suspect initially resisted verbal commands but ultimately surrendered without further incident. No injuries were reported, though an Emmett Township patrol vehicle sustained damage during the pursuit.
Authorities are investigating potential connections to an earlier armed robbery in Battle Creek. The suspect faces multiple felony charges.
