Ionia, MI – The Ionia County Sheriff’s Office, alongside the Michigan State Police Dive Team and the Department of Natural Resources (DNR), continues recovery operations for a person who went missing in Sessions Lake on the 14th. The search has been challenging due to the lake’s depth and numerous underwater features.

According to the Ionia County Sheriff’s Office, the DNR and Sessions Lake Park staff have temporarily closed the lake to fishing and recreation to aid in the search efforts. The closure will remain in effect until July 18, 2024, to ensure thorough and uninterrupted recovery operations.

Sessions Lake, known for its depth and underwater obstacles, has proven difficult for divers and recovery teams. Authorities appreciate the public’s patience and cooperation as they work diligently to locate the missing individual.
