New York Tornadoes Confirmed: NWS Albany Confirms Three Tornadoes in Eastern NY

Albany, NY – The National Weather Service (NWS) Albany has confirmed that three tornadoes touched down in eastern New York on Tuesday. The storm survey team identified two EF-1 tornadoes and one EF-0 tornado. The areas affected include Wells, Oxbow Lake, and Chestertown.

According to NWS Albany, the tornado in Wells, NY, had a maximum wind speed of 100 mph. The tornado’s path stretched through Hamilton County, causing significant damage. The second EF-1 tornado near Oxbow Lake, NY, also saw winds reaching 100 mph. The third tornado, an EF-0 near Chestertown, NY, had a maximum wind speed of 85 mph.

Additionally, the storm survey team confirmed a microburst in North Rupert, VT, with maximum winds of 95 mph. The severe weather event caused widespread damage, including downed trees and power lines. Emergency services were on high alert, and cleanup efforts are underway.
