Mount Clemens, MI – A body was pulled from the Clinton River on Wednesday afternoon after a report of a possible drowning led authorities to the area beneath the Gratiot Avenue bridge in Mount Clemens.
According to the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 2:25 p.m. after a caller reported seeing what appeared to be two feet protruding from the river. The caller also noted a significant amount of debris in the water near the location.
Deputies arrived on scene and confirmed that a body was submerged beneath the surface. The Macomb County Sheriff’s Office Marine Division was deployed and assisted in recovering the body from the river.
At this time, no details have been released regarding the identity of the individual or the circumstances surrounding the discovery. Authorities say the investigation is ongoing, and further updates will be released as more information becomes available.
The area beneath the bridge, which spans a busy corridor of Mount Clemens, has been temporarily monitored as law enforcement continues to gather evidence.
