Knox County, TN – Authorities are investigating a massive home explosion in West Knox County that leveled a structure Wednesday afternoon.
The Knox County Sheriff’s Fire and Explosives Unit responded around 1 p.m. to reports of a blast on Blue Water Way. Upon arrival, investigators determined the house was completely destroyed. Fortunately, no one was inside at the time, and no injuries were reported.
According to the Knox County Sheriff’s Office, investigators began field interviews immediately, continuing until 8 p.m. Wednesday night. Officials confirmed the investigation will be extensive due to the significant damage.
The Knox County Fire and Explosives Unit is leading the investigation, with assistance from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and Knoxville Fire Department. Authorities are not speculating about the explosion’s cause but plan to resume their work Thursday morning.
Investigators aim to determine both the explosion’s origin and cause. Updates are expected as the inquiry progresses.
