Worcester, MA – A winter storm continues to impact Massachusetts with heavy mixed precipitation expected to last until 7 p.m. Sunday, creating dangerous travel conditions and potential power outages across the state.

According to the National Weather Service in Boston/Norton, additional snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches and ice accumulations of up to 0.4 inches are forecasted for central, eastern, northeastern, and western parts of the state, including Worcester, Lowell, Gloucester, and Lawrence.

The storm is expected to make roads, especially bridges and overpasses, slick and hazardous. Ice accumulation on power lines and tree limbs could cause widespread power outages and tree damage. Officials warn that travel could become nearly impossible in some areas.

Residents are urged to delay travel if possible. Those who must travel should carry emergency supplies such as a flashlight, food, and water, and drive with caution, allowing extra time due to poor visibility and icy roads. Power outages should be reported to local electric companies, and residents should avoid downed power lines.
