Pocatello, ID – Heavy snow is blanketing eastern Idaho as a winter storm warning remains in effect through Monday morning for several regions, including the Bear River Range, Upper Snake River Plain, and Teton Valley.
According to the National Weather Service in Pocatello, snowfall could reach up to 20 inches in higher elevations, particularly in the Bear River Range and Caribou Range, while lower elevations such as Rexburg and Idaho Falls are expected to see 3 to 8 inches through Sunday evening.
Travel is expected to be challenging, with conditions possibly becoming impossible in mountainous areas. Officials advise carrying emergency supplies, including flashlights, food, and water, and checking road conditions at 511.idaho.gov before traveling.
Snow is expected to continue until 9 p.m. MST Sunday for the Upper Snake River Plain and 9 a.m. MST Monday for the Bear River and Caribou Ranges. Residents are urged to prepare for delays and take precautions as snow accumulates throughout the region.
