Baltimore, MD – Residents across Maryland are bracing for an intense heatwave as excessive heat warnings and advisories have been issued for much of the state. The National Weather Service has indicated that heat indices will climb to between 104 and 107 degrees in areas west of I-95, with temperatures potentially reaching a scorching 110 degrees in the Baltimore and Washington, D.C. metropolitan areas.
According to the National Weather Service, these dangerous heat levels are expected to persist throughout the day, accompanied by high humidity. Scattered thunderstorms, some of which could be strong, are forecasted to provide brief relief in the afternoon. However, the combination of heat and storms could create hazardous conditions, particularly for those spending time outdoors.
The heatwave will continue to grip the region into the weekend, with temperatures remaining in the 90s on Saturday. Although Sunday might see a slight dip in temperatures, the heat will still be a concern, with highs in the upper 80s and more thunderstorms expected. By Monday, the heat will rebound with temperatures climbing back into the low 90s, offering little reprieve for the region.
