Baltimore, Maryland – Baltimore will sizzle under the first real wave of summer heat Tuesday as temperatures rise to 91°F, just as wildfire smoke creeps back into the Mid-Atlantic. Air quality could deteriorate quickly, and officials recommend minimizing outdoor activity for vulnerable groups.

According to the National Weather Service, Tuesday, June 3rd will bring mostly sunny skies and light winds across central Maryland, but the clear air won’t last. Hazy conditions may develop due to Canadian wildfire smoke, triggering localized air quality alerts across Baltimore and surrounding counties.

Light winds mean pollutants could stagnate, especially in lower-elevation areas like I-95 corridors and inner-city neighborhoods. Children, older adults, and those with asthma should stay indoors during peak heat hours from noon to 6 p.m.

Relief won’t come until Friday, when a slight chance of showers returns. Rain chances increase to 60% by Saturday, signaling a more humid and unstable weekend pattern.

Temperatures will hover in the upper 80s to low 90s through Thursday, making hydration and sun protection key for those outdoors. BGE has not issued power advisories but urges residents to conserve electricity during peak hours.

Keep air conditioners clean, limit strenuous activity, and stay weather-aware through the week as conditions shift.
