
BLOOMINGTON, IN — A man has been arrested in Bloomington after multiple 911 calls reported a terrifying scene of two women being chased by an armed individual near Indiana University’s campus.
Authorities report it happened around 11 a.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Fourth and Dunn Streets when witnesses urgently dialed 911 to report the unsettling sight of two women fleeing from a man wielding a knife.
The man, identified as 22-year-old Karsten Harshbarger, was taken into custody without further incident, and officers discovered a knife in his possession during the arrest. The two women recounted their distressing encounter, revealing that they had noticed Harshbarger tailing them as they walked toward the campus. This incident has sparked discussions regarding campus safety measures and the prompt response of law enforcement.
Harshbarger now faces charges of armed intimidation and possession of a controlled substance as he remains in custody at Monroe County Jail.
