LANSING, IL – A Dolton man was arrested this week, suspected of manipulating dating apps to lure unsuspecting women to allegedly steal from them.
The reported deception of Davon T. Fullilove, 33 of Dolton, came to light after a joint sting operation by the Lansing Police Department and Cook County Forest Preserve Police.
According to Lansing Police reports it began Monday, October 9th, 2023, when surveillance was intensified around Thornton-Lansing Road and Stoney Island Avenue, based on credible intel regarding Fullilove’s activities. When he was sighted, Fullilove made a dash for it, but his freedom was short-lived. He was soon found in a nearby field and arrested without a struggle.
Authorities report this isn’t the end of Fullilove’s alleged trail of deceit. Officers soon discovered that he wasn’t just a local menace. He had active warrants for similar offenses in four nearby states: Illinois, Michigan, Indiana, and Wisconsin. Once in custody, Fullilove was charged with multiple felonies.
The Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office is preparing for his initial court appearance, which will take place at the Cook County Sixth Municipal District in Markham, IL.
Lansing Police are now issuing a stark warning for those using dating apps: Be wary, be cautious, and always prioritize personal safety. They emphasize the importance of public meetings, sharing plans with trusted individuals, and above all, maintaining skepticism when forming new online connections.
Fullilove’s arrest, as unsettling as the revelations are, serves as a cautionary tale about the potential dangers lurking behind online profiles.
