Caribou, ME – A cold weekend across Maine will give way to an active weather pattern early next week, with rain, snow, and strong winds expected starting late Monday. Residents should prepare for hazardous travel and shifting conditions.

According to the National Weather Service in Caribou, a low-pressure system will track to the northwest of the state Monday night into Tuesday, bringing widespread rain across much of Maine. Some areas in central and northern Maine may see a brief wintry mix late Monday night before precipitation transitions to rain. Winds could gust up to 30 mph Tuesday, potentially impacting roadways and visibility.

After the rain clears, dry conditions will return Wednesday, with highs near 38°F. However, forecasters warn that accumulating snowfall is likely Thursday, with areas across northern and central Maine seeing the heaviest amounts. Details about snowfall totals are still developing, so residents should monitor updates through midweek.

Temperatures will remain well below freezing overnight this weekend, with lows dropping to 7°F tonight and 12°F Sunday night. Daytime highs will slowly climb into the low 30s Monday and mid-40s Tuesday before dipping again midweek.

Drivers should use caution during the morning commute Tuesday as precipitation and gusty winds combine to create slick roads and reduced visibility. Those planning travel late Thursday should also prepare for potentially snowy conditions.

Stay tuned to the National Weather Service or local updates for the latest forecasts as conditions evolve.
