Davenport, IA – An active Ice Storm Warning is in place until 3 p.m. Saturday, impacting roads across eastern Iowa and northwest Illinois. Freezing rain has already created treacherous travel conditions, especially along I-80 and other major routes.

According to the National Weather Service, additional ice accumulation of up to three-tenths of an inch is expected, with wind gusts reaching 30 mph. The heaviest impacts will be felt in Scott, Louisa, and Muscatine counties in Iowa, as well as Rock Island and Mercer counties in Illinois. Drivers are urged to avoid travel unless absolutely necessary. Slippery roads and falling tree branches may cause significant delays and power outages.

Temperatures will hover around freezing today before warming slightly into the mid-30s by Sunday, when rain will taper off. However, roads may remain slick as overnight lows drop to the upper 20s. Sunshine is expected by Monday, with a high of 46 degrees offering some relief to icy conditions.

Looking ahead, Tuesday brings mostly sunny skies and a high of 38, with partly cloudy weather continuing through midweek. However, icy patches and residual debris from the storm may linger.

Residents should stay updated through local weather alerts and ensure emergency kits are prepared in case of power outages. For road updates, visit 511ia.org or gettingaroundillinois.com.
