Lewiston, ME – A 42-year-old woman was found dead early Monday morning inside a Lewiston residence, prompting an ongoing investigation by local and state authorities.
According to the Maine State Police, officers with the Lewiston Police Department responded at approximately 5:10 a.m. to a home on Old Greene Road to begin a death investigation. The department soon requested assistance from the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit South to help determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Authorities said the deceased woman was transported to the Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Lewiston. An autopsy is scheduled to determine both the cause and manner of death.
Investigators have not released the identity of the woman, and officials emphasized that there is currently no threat to the public.
