Yigo Village, Guam – A magnitude 4.5 earthquake struck northeast of Yigo Village, Guam, on Tuesday. The tremor occurred approximately 78 kilometers from the village, with a depth of 101.5 kilometers, according to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS).

The earthquake was recorded at 5:28 a.m. UTC and felt by a few residents in the region. Citizen scientists contributed two felt reports shortly after the quake, which registered as a level III on the Community Internet Intensity Map. This indicates that light shaking was experienced, though no major damage or injuries have been reported so far.

According to the USGS, the earthquake’s epicenter was located at 13.950°N and 145.482°E, situated in the ocean northeast of Guam. Residents in nearby areas are encouraged to report any unusual shaking they experienced, as the USGS continues to gather data on the event.

The seismic activity is part of ongoing tectonic movements in the region, where minor to moderate earthquakes occur frequently. Although no tsunami warning was issued, local authorities remain on alert for any potential aftershocks.
