Lubbock, Texas – Severe thunderstorms could rattle parts of Texas on Tuesday, June 3rd, as Lubbock faces a mix of dangerous wind gusts and climbing summer temperatures.
According to the National Weather Service, storms will likely move through Monday night into early Tuesday, with some producing damaging winds and heavy rainfall. Tuesday skies will clear by midday, but temperatures will soar to near 89°F, adding heat stress to any lingering storm damage. South winds will shift northwest at up to 15 mph, increasing the fire risk across dry areas.
Drivers along U.S. Route 62 and surrounding county roads should remain alert for wind-driven debris and sudden downpours. Localized flooding could occur, especially in low-lying areas. NWS recommends avoiding flooded intersections and securing outdoor items now.
Though Tuesday night will calm with mostly clear skies and lows near 55°F, the reprieve will be short-lived. Storm chances rise again by Wednesday evening and persist into Thursday, with each day reaching into the 80s. Partly sunny skies are expected between storm systems.
