Lowell, IN – A residential structure fire early Wednesday morning in Lowell resulted in significant damage and the loss of two pets. The Lowell Fire Department responded to a fire in the 600 block of Joe Martin Road at approximately 12:29 a.m. Police officers were first on the scene and confirmed a working fire at the rear of the home.
According to the Lowell Fire Department, police quickly relayed the situation to responding fire and EMS crews. Mutual aid was requested from neighboring departments to assist in containing the fire. Firefighters from the first-arriving engine and additional units made entry and suppressed the flames.
The homeowner was home and asleep but was able to safely exit the house. Unfortunately, two cats died in the fire. No injuries to civilians or firefighters were reported.
