Shreveport, LA – Residents in northern Louisiana are bracing for a bitterly cold start to the week as a strong cold front sweeps through the region. A cold weather advisory remains in effect through Monday morning, with gusty winds expected to create wind chill values in the single digits to mid-teens.

According to the National Weather Service in Shreveport, northwest winds of 20-25 mph with gusts as high as 40 mph will intensify tonight. Wind chills could pose a hypothermia risk for those exposed to the cold for extended periods. Residents are advised to bundle up and limit outdoor activities.

The advisory covers much of the Four-State Region, including Shreveport and surrounding areas, where temperatures will plummet to the mid-20s by Sunday night and struggle to reach the 40s on Monday. Winds are expected to ease slightly by Monday afternoon but will continue to impact travel conditions.

For those driving on major roadways like I-20, visibility may be reduced by blowing debris, and caution is urged, particularly for high-profile vehicles. Power outages are also possible in some areas due to tree limbs falling under high wind conditions.

Looking ahead, temperatures will remain below seasonal averages through Wednesday, with lows dipping into the mid-20s and highs reaching only the low 40s. Skies are expected to clear by Tuesday, bringing some sunshine to the area.

Stay informed with real-time weather updates and follow safety precautions. Residents are encouraged to check on neighbors and the elderly during these frigid conditions.
