Lake Charles, LA – A Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 10 a.m. CST Tuesday for portions of central, southwest, and west-central Louisiana, as well as southeast Texas. The National Weather Service warns of visibility dropping to a quarter-mile or less, creating hazardous travel conditions overnight into the morning commute.
According to the National Weather Service in Lake Charles, the advisory impacts multiple parishes and counties, including Vernon, Rapides, Beauregard, Allen, Calcasieu, and Cameron in Louisiana, as well as Hardin, Jasper, Newton, Orange, and Jefferson counties in Texas. Additional areas, including Lafayette, St. Landry, and Vermilion parishes, are also under the advisory.
Motorists are urged to drive with caution, as dense fog may significantly reduce visibility, increasing the risk of accidents. Authorities recommend reducing speed, using low-beam headlights, and maintaining a safe following distance.
The fog is expected to persist through the early morning hours before gradually lifting as temperatures rise. Travelers should stay updated on local weather reports and allow extra travel time.
For real-time road conditions and updates, residents can check with the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development or the Texas Department of Transportation.
