Jackson, MS – A dense fog advisory remains in effect across Mississippi, southeast Arkansas, and northeast Louisiana until 10 a.m. CST Tuesday, significantly reducing visibility and creating hazardous driving conditions.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Jackson, visibility in some areas has dropped to one-quarter mile or less due to thick fog. Affected regions include central, east central, north central, northeast, northwest, south central, southeast, southwest, and west central Mississippi, as well as portions of Arkansas and Louisiana. Cities such as Jackson, Greenville, Meridian, Vicksburg, and Hattiesburg are among those impacted.

The advisory, which includes additional counties in Scott and Newton, warns motorists to exercise extreme caution. Low visibility may lead to dangerous travel conditions, particularly on highways and rural roads.

Drivers are urged to reduce speed, use headlights, and maintain safe following distances to prevent accidents. Fog is expected to gradually lift by mid-morning as temperatures rise.

Residents should stay updated on weather conditions through local authorities and the NWS. Those with early commutes or travel plans should allow extra time and use extreme caution while on the road.
