Louisiana Under Watches and Warnings as Francine Nears with Excessive Rainfall

Lake Charles, LA – Tropical Storm Francine, expected to strengthen into a hurricane, will bring severe rainfall across southern Louisiana on Wednesday and Thursday. Widespread flood watches and excessive rainfall warnings are in effect for most of the region.

The National Weather Service forecasts heavy rain to begin Wednesday morning, intensifying through Thursday. Areas from Lake Charles to Lafayette could receive 5 to 10 inches of rain, leading to flash flooding. According to officials, storm surge warnings are also in effect for coastal parishes, adding to the threat of significant flooding.

Residents should avoid driving through flooded roads and continue monitoring official alerts for updates on the storm’s progress.
