Gretna, Louisiana – A soggy Saturday is in store for Gretna and much of the New Orleans metro, as spring storms bring rain, thunder, and potential travel slowdowns to southeast Louisiana.
According to the National Weather Service, a 90% chance of showers and thunderstorms arrives Saturday afternoon, with the heaviest rain expected between 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. Winds may gust up to 15 mph out of the west. Motorists along LA-18, U.S. 90, and the Crescent City Connection should anticipate wet pavement and reduced visibility. New rainfall amounts may total up to half an inch, so minor street flooding in low-lying neighborhoods can’t be ruled out.
Temperatures will stay mild with a high near 80°F Saturday, followed by a cooler, calmer Sunday. Sunshine returns, with highs in the upper 70s and lighter winds from the north. It’ll be the best day of the weekend for any outdoor plans.
