Baton Rouge, LA – A flood warning remains in effect for parts of Louisiana as the Mississippi River is forecast to rise above flood stage by Saturday afternoon, potentially impacting West Feliciana, Pointe Coupee, and East Baton Rouge parishes. Minor flooding is expected, with waters projected to crest at 50 feet by February 27.

According to the National Weather Service in New Orleans, the river level at Red River Landing stood at 46.7 feet as of Thursday evening, already above its bankfull stage of 46 feet. Flooding is expected to persist until at least March 8.

At 51 feet, river islands from Red River Landing to Baton Rouge will be inundated, affecting recreational camps and low-lying farmland. Authorities urge residents to avoid walking near riverbanks and for motorists to refrain from driving through flooded roads.

Residents can access additional updates at www.weather.gov/lix under the Rivers and Lakes menu. The next official flood statement is scheduled for release at 12:15 p.m. CST on Friday.
