Jackson, MS – The National Weather Service has extended flood warnings across several Mississippi counties as the Big Black River and Pearl River continue to rise, threatening roads and agricultural land.
According to the National Weather Service in Jackson, the Big Black River at Bovina is currently at 30.2 feet and is expected to crest at 33.2 feet by Sunday. Flood stage is 28 feet, and water is already impacting Warrior’s Trail Road. Similarly, the Big Black River near Bentonia has reached 25.4 feet, surpassing its flood stage of 22 feet, leading to extensive flooding of farmland.
In West, minor flooding persists, but the river is expected to drop below flood stage by Friday afternoon. Meanwhile, the Pearl River near Carthage remains slightly above flood stage at 17.1 feet, with water receding by Friday.
