Louisiana Fire Chief Faces DWI Charges After Collision with Fire Hydrant

Keachi, LA – DeSoto Parish Fire Chief Mark Magee was arrested Thursday following a single-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 5. Magee, 39, reportedly lost control of his vehicle at the intersection of Highway 5 and Highway 172, crashing into a fire hydrant.

According to the Louisiana State Police, Magee was reportedly driving a 2022 Ford F-250, assigned to the Fire District, when the incident occurred around 12:15 p.m. Officers responding to the scene reportedly detected signs of impairment. A blood sample was collected for analysis, and Magee was taken into custody.

Magee faces alleged charges of driving while intoxicated (DWI, 1st offense) and careless operation. The vehicle, an unmarked fire district truck equipped with emergency lights, was heavily damaged. The investigation into the crash continues.
