JOLIET, Ill. – The iconic Air Jordan shoes turned from a fashion statement to a damning piece of evidence in a chilling crime at Harrah’s Casino.
Robert Watson, a 29-year-old Illinois man, has been sentenced to 100 years in prison for the 2019 killing of a 76-year-old Wisconsin man.
During an 8-day trial, the jury found Watson guilty on all four counts of First Degree Murder. His fatal attack on Emanual Burgarino in the fifth-floor hallway of the casino hotel shocked the community, leaving Burgarino with 26 stab wounds.
It was the victim’s blood found on Watson’s Air Jordan gym shoes that linked him to the crime and led to his arrest. The Air Jordan’s, once a symbol of athleticism and style, now serve as a reminder of the tragic event that sealed Watson’s fate behind bars for life.
