BRAIDWOOD, Ill. – A devastating head-on collision occurred this morning at the intersection of Kankakee Rd and Smith Rd, involving two vehicles and resulting in heavy damage. The crash has left multiple individuals injured, prompting an urgent response from the Braidwood Fire Protection District (FPD) and Braceville FPD.
Emergency personnel were dispatched to the scene at approximately 9:20 am, where they discovered the aftermath of the collision. As a result of the accident, Kankakee Rd (19000W) has been temporarily closed, and motorists are urged to avoid the area until further notice.
Upon arrival, the Braceville Fire Department confirmed that there were no occupants pinned inside the vehicles. Two injured patients were transported to a nearby hospital. The extent of their injuries is yet to be determined.
In addition to the local fire departments, assistance was sought from nearby departments including Coal City and Gardner. Their support was vital in managing the situation and ensuring the injured individuals received prompt medical attention.
