Arrests in connection with Body found in Gas Tanker in Iroquois County

IROQUOIS COUNTY – Multiple arrests have been with the death of a man whose body was found inside a Gas Tanker near Buckley on June 4th.

Police reports in June indicated the discovery of 29-year-old Garrett Meyer of Nashville body came to light after two truck drivers reportedly noticed the fuel wasn’t flowing properly during the unloading process at a gas transfer hub.

Iroquois County Coroner Bill Cheatum said in June both drivers said they had no idea how the body ended up inside of the tanker.

Multiple agencies including the Iroquois County Sheriff’s Office, Kankakee police, and the U.S. Marshals Service arrested 33-year-old Billy T. Roof III of Kankakee and 37-year-old Ryan D. Morrow of Tallula late Monday. Both men are held at the Iroquois County Jail.

Roof and Morrow were both arrested on charges of unlawful possession of a stolen vehicle and unlawful concealment of a death. Roof was also charged additionally for unlawful use of account numbers.
