KANKAKEE, Ill. – Kankakee High School (KHS) parents received a disturbing letter falsely reporting a gun found in one of the locker rooms, as well as a note threatening a school shooting.
The school district quickly responded, informing parents that the report was false and a fraud.
In an official statement, Kankakee School District 111 assured parents that the safety of students and staff is of the utmost importance and that they are saddened by the false information that was spread. The district also confirmed that school was in session and that there was no threat to students or staff.
The Kankakee School District is working closely with law enforcement to ensure the safety of all students and staff. The district has encouraged parents to discuss safety measures with their children and to report any suspicious behavior to the school or the authorities.
It is unknown who sent the false report to KHS parents, and the district has not released any further information at this time.
An investigation into the incident is underway.
