BRAIDWOOD, IL – A residential fire on Wednesday has left two Braidwood residents without a home.
The Braidwood Fire Protection District responded to the blaze at 163 S. School Street at approximately 1942 hours. Upon arrival, firefighters found heavy smoke and visible fire conditions near the back of the house.
Firefighters entered the home and determined that the fire had already spread to the attic. The cause of the fire is under investigation, but it is known that the damage was significant, leaving two residents displaced due to the destruction of the house and smoke damage.
While the two residents were assessed by ambulance crews on the scene, they refused transport to the hospital. Both residents were relocated with family members. Fortunately, there were no civilian or firefighter injuries as a result of the fire.
