Little Rock, Arkansas – Severe storms will begin impacting roads and utilities across Arkansas by late afternoon Monday, with the first round expected to intensify between 4 p.m. and 10 p.m., bringing damaging winds, large hail, and possible tornadoes.

According to the National Weather Service in Little Rock, scattered thunderstorms will develop during the afternoon and quickly strengthen, especially across central and northeast Arkansas. A second, more organized line of storms will push through overnight from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. Tuesday, increasing the risk for widespread wind damage.

Cities including Little Rock, Conway, Jonesboro, Searcy, Pine Bluff, and Batesville sit in the higher-risk corridor. Wind gusts could reach up to 75 mph, hail may exceed 2 inches in diameter, and a few tornadoes cannot be ruled out—especially north and east of I-40 and along the I-555 corridor. Storms are expected to move at 40 to 50 mph, increasing the chance of rapid deterioration in conditions.

Travel on major routes including I-30, I-40, and Highway 67 may become hazardous during peak storm windows. Residents should secure loose outdoor items, charge devices, and ensure multiple ways to receive warnings overnight when storms are harder to track.

The severe threat will continue through early Tuesday morning, with additional updates expected later today as timing and storm intensity become clearer.
