Las Vegas, Nevada – Drivers across central Nevada could lose visibility in minutes Tuesday as 60 mph wind gusts whip up dust and debris, especially along exposed highways like US-95.

According to the National Weather Service in Las Vegas, a High Wind Watch is in effect from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday for Esmeralda and central Nye counties. Sustained south winds of 30 to 40 mph are expected, with peak gusts reaching 60 mph, strong enough to push high-profile vehicles off course and reduce visibility to under half a mile in dust-prone areas.

Travel impacts will stretch across key routes including US-95, NV-264, NV-265, and NV-266, where sudden crosswinds could force lane closures or delays. Areas near Tonopah, Goldfield, and Dyer are particularly exposed, with open desert terrain allowing winds to accelerate fires.

Blowing debris may also create hazards for power lines and temporary structures. Residents should secure loose outdoor items, avoid towing trailers, and delay non-essential travel during peak wind hours.

Conditions are expected to ease تدريجيًا after 8 p.m., but additional advisories may be issued if wind speeds increase or dust reduces visibility further.
