Grand Rapids, MI – Police executed a search warrant on September 3 at a local residence, leading to the seizure of $1.2 million in cash, more than a kilogram of cocaine, vehicles, and an illegally-possessed firearm. Officers arrested an adult male at the scene.
According to Chief Eric Winstrom, the GRPD Vice Unit had been investigating the residence for several months. “This seizure represents a significant disruption to the drug trade in the Grand Rapids metro area, to the benefit and safety of everyone in our community,” he said. The cash seizure marks the largest in the department’s history.
The case remains under investigation. Police plan to process all seized money and vehicles through the civil asset forfeiture system.
