Syracuse, NY – A lake effect snow warning remains in effect for parts of Central New York, with heavy snowfall expected to continue overnight. Areas including Syracuse, Utica, and Rome could see up to 6 more inches of accumulation before the warning expires at 6 a.m. Wednesday.

According to the National Weather Service in Binghamton, the heaviest snow will fall north of I-90, particularly in western Oneida County. Madison and Onondaga counties are also under the warning, with slippery roads and reduced visibility anticipated.

Drivers should prepare for hazardous travel conditions, as snowfall intensity can vary significantly within short distances. The National Weather Service advises carrying emergency supplies, such as flashlights, food, and water, when traveling.

Lake effect snow can create sudden changes in visibility and road conditions. Officials urge residents to check updated road conditions by calling 511 and allow extra time for travel.

This storm follows a series of winter weather events impacting the region, with more snow possible later in the week. Stay tuned for updates as conditions evolve.
