Gary, IN – Workers cleaning out a garage in Gary, Indiana, uncovered the remains of a woman who had been missing for nearly three years. On March 28, 2025, the Gary Police Department responded to the 2600 block of Jefferson Street after the body was discovered. Due to the condition of the remains, immediate identification was not possible.
According to officials, the Lake County Coroner took custody of the remains, and with the help of Dr. Krista Latham from the University of Indianapolis Human Identification Center, the deceased was identified as Lisa Wright. Wright, who went missing in September 2021, had been the subject of an ongoing investigation.
The cause of death remains under investigation, and authorities are urging anyone with information related to Wright’s disappearance to come forward. The Gary Police Department’s Investigative Division can be reached at 219-881-1209.
