Gary, IN – Gary police announced an arrest Friday in connection with the July killing of Leandre Holley, with a suspect now facing murder, attempted murder and several other charges.

According to the Gary Police Department, Isaiah Woods has been arrested in connection with Holley’s July 20, 2026, homicide in the 4500 block of Broadway. Police said Woods is in custody at the Lake County Jail.

Woods has been charged with murder, attempted murder, aggravated battery, battery by means of a deadly weapon, unlawful carrying of a firearm and unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon, according to police.

Authorities said Woods also faces three firearm enhancements.

The announcement marks a development in a homicide investigation that began more than a month ago along Broadway, a major north-south corridor through Gary in Lake County and Northwest Indiana.

Police did not provide additional details in Friday’s announcement about the circumstances surrounding Holley’s death, what allegedly led to the killing or how investigators identified Woods as a suspect.

The case remains under investigation by the Lake County Prosecutor’s Homicide Task Force, according to Gary police.

Authorities are continuing to seek information from the public despite the arrest. Anyone with information related to the investigation is urged to contact Detective Brian McCall at 219-755-3855.

The charges against Woods are allegations. He is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
