Lake County, IL – Vernon Hills Man Arrested for Trafficking Guns and Drugs

Lake County, IL – The Lake County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Group (SIG), a unit funded by the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) program, recently concluded a notable investigation, resulting in the arrest of Dentri J. Henning, 34, of Vernon Hills, for his involvement in gun and drug trafficking. 

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the arrest occurred on March 7, 2024, at Henning’s residence located on the 300 block of Farmingdale Circle, Vernon Hills, following a targeted operation by SIG members who had received tips about Henning’s illegal activities. The investigation led to the seizure of a semi-automatic pistol and over 30 grams of cocaine.

Following a thorough review, the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office has charged Henning with multiple felonies, including Armed Habitual Criminal, Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver, Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and Unlawful Sale of a Firearm.

Sheriff John D. Idleburg commended the SIG’s efforts, emphasizing their role in combating the trafficking of guns and drugs within the community. 

Henning is currently detained at the Lake County Jail, awaiting his initial court hearing. It is important to note that all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
