Whiting, IN – Officers with the Lake County Sheriff’s Department Drug Task Force uncovered drugs, firearms, and cash during a home raid this week. A six-month investigation led to the search at a house on the 2500 block of Schrage Avenue on Tuesday.
According to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, police confiscated six pounds of marijuana, 2,096 THC vape cartridges, and 197.2 grams of psilocybin mushrooms. Officers also found 1.2 grams of fentanyl, four firearms, and $5,687 in cash.
The Drug Task Force and Tactical Unit executed the search warrant as part of an ongoing effort to combat illegal drug activity in the area. Authorities took a 24-year-old man into custody. He faces potential felony charges connected to the seized contraband.
Sheriff Oscar Martinez Jr. stated that the department remains committed to removing dangerous substances from local communities. Investigators continue to examine evidence and pursue leads from the raid.
This operation highlights ongoing concerns over drug distribution and public safety in Whiting. Law enforcement officials urge residents to report suspicious activity to assist future investigations.
