Jackson, KY – A winter storm warning remains in effect for eastern Kentucky from tonight through Thursday, bringing significant snowfall and hazardous travel conditions.

According to the National Weather Service, snow will begin late Tuesday night, with accumulations between 3 and 6 inches expected. Higher amounts are possible in some areas. Winds will be calm but could pick up as the system intensifies. Snowfall rates may reach 1 inch per hour overnight, making roads treacherous.

Drivers should avoid travel if possible, especially during Wednesday’s morning and evening commutes. Those who must drive should carry an emergency kit, including a flashlight, food, and water.

Wednesday will see steady snowfall throughout the day, tapering off by late evening. Temperatures will remain cold, with highs in the upper 20s and lows in the teens.

By Thursday, snow showers will linger in the morning before giving way to partly sunny skies. Friday marks the start of a warming trend, with highs reaching the mid-30s. This weekend, temperatures will continue to rise, nearing 50 degrees by Sunday.
