Paducah, KY – Heavy rain and dense fog are creating hazardous conditions for western Kentucky this morning, impacting roads and local travel. A Flood Advisory remains in effect until 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, with additional rainfall expected to exacerbate flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Residents are urged to use caution, especially on roadways like I-24 and US-45, where visibility and standing water pose risks.
According to the National Weather Service Paducah, between 1 and 2 inches of rain have already fallen, with additional amounts up to 1 inch possible. Doppler radar and automated gauges confirm localized heavy rainfall early Wednesday. Drivers are warned to avoid water-covered roadways, as crossings may become impassable.
Conditions will improve later today as rain tapers off by mid-morning, giving way to cloudy skies and temperatures falling to 46°F. Tonight will remain mostly cloudy, with lows dipping to 30°F.
Looking ahead, the extended forecast offers a mix of sunshine and cooler temperatures:
• Thursday: Mostly sunny with highs near 48°F. Winds calm before shifting southward.
• Friday: Sunny but colder, with highs around 38°F and overnight lows near 25°F.
• Saturday: Mostly sunny, highs reaching 41°F, followed by a clear, cold night with lows near 22°F.
Residents should monitor weather updates and remain cautious on local roads, especially during early morning commutes.
