Baltimore, MD – A brief period of sunshine will give way to an active weather pattern, with rain, snow, and freezing temperatures arriving in the Baltimore area later this week. Residents should prepare for potential travel disruptions and sharply colder conditions by the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service, rain will develop late Wednesday afternoon, continuing overnight into early Thursday. Temperatures will remain seasonal Thursday, with highs in the mid-40s and calmer winds. However, a strong low-pressure system will move in Friday, bringing a mix of rain and snow into the region.

By Friday night, colder air will surge south, causing rain to mix with or turn entirely to snow. Lows will drop to the low 30s, with some areas seeing light snow accumulations. Travelers along I-95 and surrounding roadways should stay alert for slippery conditions, particularly late Friday into early Saturday morning.

Saturday will usher in the coldest air of the season so far, with highs struggling to reach the mid-30s. Overnight lows will plummet into the low 20s, accompanied by gusty winds, making it feel even colder.

By Sunday, conditions will remain frigid but clear, with highs only reaching the low 30s and nighttime temperatures dipping into the teens.

Residents are advised to monitor weather updates, secure outdoor items ahead of windy conditions, and dress warmly throughout the weekend. Those planning travel should prepare for icy roads and allow extra time, especially Friday night into Saturday.
