Paducah, Kentucky — Scattered showers and a few isolated thunderstorms are developing across western Kentucky Saturday afternoon, with activity between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. expected to create slick roads and brief visibility drops in Paducah, Owensboro, Madisonville and Hopkinsville.

According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, rain chances remain limited today, but a more widespread round of showers and storms will return beginning Monday night and continue through Wednesday across the region.

This is part of a broader system bringing a cooler start to May before shifting into a wetter pattern, increasing the risk of repeated rainfall and runoff issues.

Rainfall totals of 1 to 2 inches are expected through midweek, with the heaviest periods likely Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday morning. Water may quickly collect on low-lying roads, underpasses and flood-prone intersections, especially in urban areas of Paducah and along I-24 and I-69 corridors. Saturated ground could also lead to minor drainage flooding in rural areas near creeks and ditches.

Drivers should slow during heavy rain and avoid water-covered roads, while residents should monitor changing conditions as storms redevelop early this week.

The next significant impact window will occur from 4 p.m. Tuesday to 9 a.m. Wednesday, when repeated storms may cause the greatest travel disruption.
