According to the National Weather Service in Louisville, showers and thunderstorms will begin after 11 a.m. Sunday, June 8, intensifying into the evening. The most dangerous impacts will include torrential rain, localized flash flooding, and damaging wind gusts. Rainfall totals may reach 3 inches in some areas, especially where repeated storms occur.
Communities along I-64 and I-65, including Jefferson, Bullitt, and Shelby counties, should expect hazardous driving conditions through Sunday night. Isolated flash flooding is possible where storm cells stall. The NWS Hazardous Weather Outlook warns that spotter activation may be needed later in the day.
Sunday’s high will reach 81°F with winds from the southwest at 6 to 8 mph. Storm chances continue into Sunday night, tapering by dawn Monday. A second round is likely Monday morning before 11 a.m., with more showers and storms possible into the afternoon. Flash flooding remains a concern.
