Cincinnati, Ohio – River levels across the Ohio Valley are expected to fall this week as dry weather holds through Wednesday, offering relief to communities recovering from earlier rainfall.
According to the Ohio River Forecast Center, rain will return Thursday and Friday, but totals will be light—unlikely to cause new flooding. Most rivers in the region, including those in Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky, are currently below flood stage. The only exception is parts of the southwest basin, where isolated areas remain near action stage.
In Cincinnati and along the Kentucky border, river gauges continue to trend downward, aided by two full days of dry air and sunshine. Evansville and Huntington may also see minor fluctuations, but no warnings are currently active. Communities in southern Ohio and northern West Virginia should remain alert, but no major impacts are forecast from the late-week rainfall.
Residents in low-lying areas should still monitor river levels and avoid walking or driving through flooded zones. Light rain Thursday could lead to ponding on roads but won’t cause significant rises in water levels.
Dry conditions will persist until late Wednesday, with the next update expected from NWS by Thursday morning.
