Kentucky, MO – The region is experiencing severe weather conditions, with dangerous heat and the risk of flash floods. The National Weather Service in Paducah, Kentucky, issued a heat advisory, predicting heat index values between 105°F to 110°F for the day.

According to the NWS, the intense heat poses serious health risks, including heat exhaustion, heat stroke, and dehydration. Residents are advised to stay hydrated, check on the elderly, and never leave children or pets in cars. There might be some relief in areas north of I-64 due to scattered thunderstorms expected this afternoon.

A flash flood watch is also in effect, with heavy rain expected to lead to flash flooding through Wednesday morning. The affected areas include parts of Kentucky, Missouri, southern Illinois, and southern Indiana. Hazards include flooded roadways, streams out of banks, and flooded low water crossings.
