Louisville, KY – Temperatures dropping into the lower 30s overnight will create widespread frost conditions that could damage plants across Kentucky and southern Indiana before sunrise Sunday.

According to the National Weather Service in Louisville, a Frost Advisory is in effect from midnight EDT (11 p.m. CDT) through 10 a.m. EDT Sunday. The advisory covers a large portion of central and eastern Kentucky, including Louisville, Lexington, and Elizabethtown, along with parts of southern Indiana such as Jeffersonville and New Albany.

Cities along the I-64 and I-65 corridors will see up to 10 hours of frost potential, especially in rural and low-lying areas where colder air settles. Sensitive vegetation, including early spring gardens and flowering trees, faces the highest risk if left uncovered.

Residents should cover plants, bring potted vegetation indoors, and take precautions before midnight. Gardeners and homeowners should focus on exposed areas where frost can form quickly under clear skies.

Temperatures will rise after 10 a.m. Sunday, ending the immediate threat, but additional cool mornings remain possible into early next week. More advisories could be issued if overnight conditions stay clear and calm.
