Kentucky wakes up to a crisp, quiet morning, with cool air settling over roads and neighborhoods as sunlight slowly breaks through.

According to the National Weather Service, temperatures hovered in the upper 40s early this morning in Paducah, Metropolis, Murray, and Mayfield, keeping conditions cool but stable for the morning commute . No frost concerns here, but the chill lingers through mid-morning before a noticeable warm-up begins.

This is part of a broader system keeping much of the eastern U.S. cooler than normal, while a gradual spring rebound builds into early next week.

The immediate impact is minimal for travel, but drivers along I-24 and U.S. 60 may notice brief reduced visibility in low-lying river areas near the Ohio River early this morning. By late morning into the afternoon, skies turn mostly sunny and temperatures climb quickly toward 67°F, drying out roads and improving conditions regionwide.

Take advantage of the dry stretch. It’s a good window for travel, errands, or outdoor plans. Winds remain light, so no major disruptions are expected today.

Looking ahead, the pattern shifts. A weak disturbance brings a slight chance of light showers Saturday afternoon into evening, mainly north of Paducah. Sunday turns warmer and sunny near 72°F, followed by a surge into the upper 70s and near 80°F by Monday.

By Monday night into Tuesday, moisture increases again. Showers and thunderstorms become more likely, with some storms potentially producing gusty winds. While severe weather is uncertain, the temperature jump and incoming humidity signal a more active setup.

Five-day outlook:
Saturday: High 66°F, slight shower chance late
Sunday: Sunny, high 72°F
Monday: Mostly sunny, high 80°F
Tuesday: Showers and storms likely, high 73°F
Wednesday: Storm chances continue, high near 80°F
