Louisville, KY – The National Weather Service in Louisville has issued an alert for extreme heat expected this week. Beginning Monday, temperatures will climb into the 90s each day, with the most intense heat arriving Tuesday through Thursday. Highs are predicted to reach between 95 and 99 degrees during this period. Heat indices could approach or surpass 100 degrees, creating dangerous conditions for outdoor activities.

According to the National Weather Service, Tuesday and Wednesday will be the hottest days, with highs between 95 and 98 degrees. The combination of high temperatures and humidity will make it feel significantly hotter, pushing the heat index near 100 degrees.

A slight cooling trend will begin Friday when a chance for rain and thunderstorms might bring some relief. Until then, expect dry conditions and mostly clear skies.

Residents are advised to take precautions to avoid heat-related illnesses. Stay hydrated, limit time outdoors, and check on vulnerable populations, such as the elderly and pets. The heat wave is expected to ease slightly by the weekend, but temperatures will still be in the upper 80s to low 90s.
